Painting Giveaway #5: How Many Rooks

At the moment I have some paintings on display at the Rathmines Festival.

Two of those paintings feature birds. One is of a single rook in flight but if you can be the first person in the comments below to tell me how many rooks feature in the other painting, you can have for free the painting of your choice from the prizepool.

Using your expert knowledge of rooks you can guess, or you can just go to the Swan Centre and count them.

I’ll be doing more giveaways regularly again and expanding the prizepool, once this show is over.

Update: If nobody supplies the correct answer by the end of the exhibition (Sunday evening) - the winner will be the person with the closest answer.

  2. Donal says:

    2 Would be my guess!

  3. Chris says:

I’ll go with 1 (to pair w/1 in other painting)

  4. jsilke says:

same number of rooks as the number of waves on my website ^^^ click my name above ^^^ !

  5. jsilke says:

:-0 or this one might click better ^^^

  6. CapallGlas says:

I would say 3, as such things usually come in 3’s.

  7. Fernando says:

I used to live in Rathmines, just close to Swan Centre, I’d like to go there to count it, but I’ll guess about the same amount of love you keep in your heart! Did I get it? so far…

  8. Maidhci says:

    6

  9. Patricia says:

Five. Am I eligble having won before? I’m hoping I’m on a roll with the guess-the-number-in-the-show thing.

  10. martha says:

Was going to say 5, but since that’s taken, I’ll say 7. That family of birds tends to congregate in prime numbers.

  11. Mob says:

    I’ll chance 4.

  12. Forbairt says:

    7 is my magic number

  13. padraig says:

Love to go to the exhibition but distance prohibits… So I’ll have to guess 8.

  14. raul says:

martha said that 5 is taken but is…not so I’d say 5 rooks !

    :)

  15. E gan F says:

Raul - 5 is taken - by Patricia. You can go for another number so if you fancy it.

Also, because I was slow in in approving comments 15 was taken by Debbie before Sugar Britches also guessed it. And 7 was guessed by Martha before Forbairt.

So if you’ve guessed a number already taken, you can guess a new one.

  16. Mia says:

    I’m gonna guess at 9

  17. Raul says:

    Oups, yes 5 i taken. Well…9 ! ( nine is a good number : )

  18. Raul says:

    And now 9 is taken..:)

    11. Final. :)

  19. E gan F says:

The show is now over, and the painting in question itself is sold and gone - flown the coop even (I sold 4, possibly 5 paintings in total).

I’ll post a picture of it in a while, together with the answer, and therefore the winner.

  20. ajbroome says:

Bugger! I was going to say ‘24′ as in ‘four and twenty’… ;-)

  21. [...] is the painting on which I based the question for painting giveaway #5. The painting is in acrylic on canvas with painted sides. I think it’s 15 inches by 15 [...]

  22. E gan F says:
