2009 End of Year Sale of Paintings
The 2009 End of Year Sale has ended.
With the sudden re-roofing and renovations of the studio, a lot less paintings were posted in the sale than planned. I’m holding back the latest paintings and going to add them to ones I’m about to finish and some time in January have a new sale in celebration of my new roof.
For older paintings available at non-sale prices - click HERE.
Announcements of new paintings are made first on twitter (have a look there now to see links to paintings not yet posted here) and then this page will be updated as batches of paintings are ready, so you may need to refresh to see if any new paintings have been added.
If you do wish to buy a painting, to avoid disappointment you might want to contact me as soon as possible as paintings are sold on a first-come basis, and there have been a few instances of more than one person attempting to buy the same painting at the same time.
Come back later to see some more new paintings.
Photo: Howth From Dún Laoghaire
Howth Head. There’s better views of it, in the clearer sense, but I like the excitement you get when you first see it through something. This was a ridiculouslly nice weekend in September.
It’s impossible of course not to like walking on either pier but I like the visual mess that is Dún Laoghaire by the piers

When you spend a lot of time thinking about going into pubs you tend to see a lot of what happens outside of them.
This Dublin pub is on Parkgate Street on the edge of Dublin’s city centre.

Under The West-Link
A few photos for you of the stretch of the M50 that is the West-Link bridge over the Liffey Valley in Dublin. I took these underneath the motorway in a spot where, long before even the first carriageway was built, I used to play as a kid.
These were taken using the phone as I haven’t yet splurged for new batteries for my proper camera. Anyway, who doesn’t like big concrete?

No Parking
Every day I cycle and walk past this prohibitive corner of Dublin. For years I’ve loved it, stopping to enjoy it even (though obviously not in car), and recently I thought I’d finally take a picture of it and share it with you.

Painting Giveaway #8: A Painting of Where?
This is a picture of a painting in progress. But of where is it a painting of?
I’ll help you. Once upon a time I cycled alone across America. This is a scene from the trip. Or it will be when it’s finished. So it could look very different.
Tell me what US state it’s in, and what episode of my Cycle Across America journal it’s from (of the 71 posted).
The 1st person to leave a comment telling me the correct State and Journal Post wins an original painting of their choice from the prizepool. (NOTE: If you’re reading this on FaceBook go HERE)
The prizepool was extended up to 20 paintings recently. They’re also for sale so it’s possible you could have a choice of less than 20 when the competition closes.
I suspect I’ll leave your answers hidden in moderation because not only does it add great frustration excitement but it gives me a chance to take the dog out and to cycle to my studio without fretting about you. I’ll probably tell you tomorrow who won, depending on answers - or I’ll keep it open if nobody has won.
RESULT: We have a winner. There were 26 guesses, and I’ve addressed them all and given the answer with the result that one person has their choice of a pinting from the prizepool.
UPDATE: You can see, and indeed buy, the finished painting HERE
The Doors of Dublin Lanes
Some photos I’ve taken in the back lanes of Dublin West.
There’s 40 doors in this collage, most of them garage doors. I don’t necessarily like or dislike graffiti, but I’m spellbound by painted out graffiti. Peeling wood and rusting metal I find impossible to dislike, and before all of that the painted squares and rectangles that are the doors and gates of Dublin’s lanes I’ve found intoxicating since I first played beside them.
I did it again. Another 50 Dublin Lane photos

Zebras In Glass Houses
A photo of hell, if you’re a zebra who drinks whiskey. Or in other words, zebras in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

A bottle left standing up is something I’ve always found difficult to walk past.
So you get to pause with me.

No Future
I love the glimpses of the city you get on a bus that’s hurtling around Dublin. And trying with a camera to capture those glimpses I especially like.
This photo is of a paste-up by Canvaz and comes with its own words, so I’ve nothing further to add.
