Liberty Hall & O’Connell Bridge
16″ x 12″
canvas, unframed
SOLD
Standing at the wall of the river Liffey on Dublin’s Aston Quay I love looking at Liberty Hall in its party hat, and at the junction, which I’ve drawn and painted several times, of the bridge with O’Connell Street (Bachelor’s Walk and Eden Quay) - though obviously with [...]

Recently I showed some paintings at the People’s Art Exhibition on Stephen’s Green, Dublin. I won’t list all the items this time but paintings, packaging, tools, tea, stool, and everything needed to show the paintings on the railings, were all transported from my studio in Lucan the 15km (9.5 miles) or so to the city [...]

Dun Laoghaire Pier and Howth
20″ x 8″
canvas, unframed
€165
S&H: €11 Worldwide
I like shapes, and the profile of Howth Head along with the boats of Dun Laoghaire harbour are a favourite collection at any time of day. In this painting it’s clearly a sunny time of day, as the roaring red sky would indicate.

Liffey Bridges
14″ x 11″
canvas, painted sides, unframed
SOLD
I like a glut of bridges, and because the Liffey bends its way through Dublin’s city centre there are several points to enjoy such views. This particular one is from the south quays looking east to the pedestrian Millenium and Ha’penny bridges, and O’Connell bridge and the Loopline bridge [...]

Frank Sherwin Bridge
16″ x 12″
canvas, unframed
SOLD
Although Frank Sherwin Bridge does hide many views of Sean Heuston Bridge, it does at least afford newer close-up views of its older cousin. Most times when I’m crossing one I then immediately cross the other. This is only problematic if I actually want to get to the other side [...]

Loopline Bridge
16″ x 12″
canvas, unframed
€165 €125* SOLD
S&H: €11 Worldwide
Some of us never got to appreciate the views of the Custom House unobstructed by the Loopline Bridge, because we’re not 120 years old, so maybe we don’t feel as strongly against it as we should. I like railway bridges and without the advertising hoardings I think [...]

From Grattan Bridge
16″ x 12″
canvas
SOLD
Grattan Bridge I’ve painted from several angles and I’m not sure which is my favourite view, but I do like the hippocamp lamps. Growing up I assumed the view east along the river would never change. That was before the IFSC, the Millenium Bridge, the Boardwalk, and George’s Quay Plaza.

A photograph that says home to me. In any decade, notwithstanding the lack of smoke on buses these days.
I love Dublin in the rain. And I love it even more when you can’t see it because of the rain.

Shapes, patterns, lines, you know that I see them everywhere and extract them for paintings. And you know that I also like walls so much that I can look at them forever. Well I couldn’t look at this one like this forever because this was the final stage before the pebble dashing began.

A Dublin photo of a shortcut in the city centre.
I actually quite like this wall though the photograph is all about the signs. Apply your own caption.
